Nepal: Everest Base Camp Trek
It's Back!
Known in Nepal as Sagarmatha - "Mother Goddess of the Snows" - Everest is a mountain of superlatives, the star of the Himalayas and an irresistible lure to adventurers far and wide. And no place is more strongly associated with MTS than Nepal, since it is here that we laid the cornerstone of our passion for adventure in the late 1960s by organizing the first commercial treks in this country.
This trekking in Nepal journey takes you to the foot of the mountain, revealing the extravagant beauty of the region along the way. You'll first visit delightful Sherpa villages, where you'll meet the friendly people and soak up the colors, sights, and sounds of village life and enjoy stays at Sherpa-run lodges (2009 treks). Then you'll head to the rocky heights of Kala Patar (18,192'), where you'll set your eyes on the awesome face of Everest, The Big One, and trek to Everest Base Camp, with its views of 50-foot-tall seracs. The experience of gazing on its splendor is an indescribable thrill and, for many, the realization of a lifetime dream.
